Research Projects: Medicare Consumer Assessment of Health Plans Survey (CAHPS) on Voluntary Disenrollees

Purpose of Project:

Administer the CAHPS survey (Consumer Assessment of Health Plans Study) to a national sample of beneficiaries who have recently left a Medicare Managed Care Plan. The results of this assessment survey will be incorporated with the results of the CAHPS Medicare Managed Care Survey for beneficiaries enrolled in Medicare Managed Care Plan for at least six months. In addition, the project team (CHSRA and RTI International) is administering a separate survey to another sample of beneficiaries who have recently left a Medicare managed care plan to determine their reasons for leaving the plan. The results of this survey will be complement the reporting of annual disenrollment rates mandated by Congress. The CHSRA team has lead responsibilities for two tasks on this project: case-mix adjustment and reporting results to plans.
